NELHA wins DBEDT Team of the Year

NELHA’s deep sea water repair team wins DBEDT team of the year for the repair of the 40″ deep sea water pipeline in the summer of 2013. The repair was mostly carried out using remote operated vehicles pictured below. The accomplishment was acknowledged by Governor Abercrombie at the Governor’s ceremony on October 3rd, 2014.

Infrasound Laboratory located at NELHA focuses on inaudible low frequency sounds generated by large events including volcanic eruptions, meteors, tsunamis. This recent blog gives a good overview on volcanic acoustics work done by the lab.

Hawaii Community College is working with Maui’s Food Innovation Center to bring workshops on food product development and quality assurance to Waimea and Kona. Details are available on the flyer.

Two recently rescued monk seal pups were admitted to Ke Kai Ola on September 18. The first batch of 4 patients admitted in July have been successfully brought back to health and released to the wild.
