Solar Project at NELHA shuts down

NELHA, the County of Hawai’i and Hawai’i Electric Light Company have entered into a strategic partnership to attract, test and evaluate pre-commercial energy storage on February 13, 2014. Read more in a  joint press release issued by the three organizations today.

The first in a series of lectures on the topic of energy shall be held on January 8. 2013 at 5:30PM at the Gateway Center. Refer to the press release for more information of call Friends of NELHA at 808-329-8073.

Makai Ocean Engineering Inc. has recently announced the receipt of a $3.5 million award from HNEI (Hawaii Natural Energy Institute) and ONR (Office of Naval Research) to continue their OTEC work at NELHA. The Hawai’i- Okinawa Clean Energy Cooperation 4th annual ocean energy workshop, organized and hosted by the Hawaii County, took place at the Hawaii County Kailua-Kona Civic Center on September 13, 2013. John Delong, NELHA Chairman provides one of the welcome statements. The workshop included progress reports on the recently inaugurated Kumejima test facility.     

NELHA is mentioned as Hawaii market spotlight in The American Council on Renewable Energy’s 2013 Renewable Energy in the 50 States: Western Region report (page 14)! Hawaii is quoted as having “one of the most diverse renewable energy generation opportunities of any State”.
