A solar-powered factory starts operations at NELHA

NELHA recently announced a new solar project at NELHA. In late 2020, LightManufacturing Inc. quickly deployed an outdoor, containerized factory that produces large, durable plastic products, such as tanks, powered entirely by 100% solar energy from heliostats. The system allows building items that are typically shipped to the islands from an off-grid plant that generates no pollution and has no fuel costs. The company is also conducting R&D on the use of post-consumer plastic waste as a feedstock. LightManufacturing has begun providing local customers with high-quality catchment products and is eager to develop molds for any other consumer products that may be needed on the island.
