The Marine Mammal Center has successfully completed fundraising for the Hawaiian monk seal hospital, Ke Kai Ola. The initial construction phase of the $3.2 million facility, located at NELHA,  is completed. The facility is expected to start operations in summer 2014. The Hawaiian monk seal species is nearing extinction as there are fewer than 1,100 individuals left. Check out The Marine Mammal Center website for more information on the seals, as well as how to get involved and/or how to donate.
