Compiling, Analyzing and Visualizing NELHA’s 30 Years of Historical Biota Survey Data

Title:  “Compiling, Analyzing and Visualizing NELHA’s 30 Years of Historical Biota Survey Data”
Description: Sidney Vermeulen, MIT Student from Kona, will be presenting a summary of her winter internship project. The talk will highlight various visualizations and statistical analysis of historical biota survey data that were crafted for the NELHA website.  Sidney will discuss some of the challenges that she faced in this project, and highlight how the final product will allow for easy updating of future data and permit users to interact with the charts/graphs in a dynamic and (hopefully) fun way.  Sidney will also discuss some of the difficulties she encountered at various stages of the project, and show some of the programs and techniques used to develop the visualizations.
